Weihong Du, associate professor of Asian studies (Chinese), led a group of seven students on a two-week trip to the San Francisco area to examine early Chinese immigration, particularly through Angel Island, a historical entry point for Asian Americans. The project was supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, "Local Contexts, Global Connections: Revitalizing Immersive Cultural and Language Study at Home." The Stellyes Center for Global Study and other sources also provided funding for the projects that provided students with experiences typically associated with study abroad. Such trips are opportunities for students to get on-the-ground cultural and linguistic skills that they may not learn in a classroom. In recent years, however, many students were unable to participate in study abroad; the pandemic limited overseas travel.

Maeve McDermott won the Marie Geno Prize for Outstanding Senior in French at UVM's College of Arts and Sciences Awards Ceremony held May 17. The award is given annually to the senior who has demonstrated outstanding performance in French.

Four hundred and fifty-nine graduates were conferred the degree of Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College on Saturday, June 15, 2019, the culmination of four years of study in the liberal arts.

The following students have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester at Baldwin Wallace University according to BW Provost Stephen D. Stahl. Any full-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for 12 or more graded hours or part-time student who achieves a GPA of at least 3.6 for six or more graded hours in the fall or spring semester will be placed on the Dean's List.

A total of 11,406 students enrolled during the 2019 spring term at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or to undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.
