The graduates were bestowed with cords of light blue, the traditional color of academic tassels worn by those in the field of education, in a ceremony on Friday, May 6, in Stephen's Auditorium in Ames. The Iowa State University Educator Preparation Program comprises students and faculty in several colleges. The program is coordinated by the School of Education in the College of Human Sciences.

Initiation for members and officers of McKendree University's first-year student honor society was held on April 28 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts, as part of the annual Academic Excellence Celebration.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced Monday that Carthage College goalkeeper Taylor Sopron has been named the CCIW Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. This is the second time Sopron has received the honor in 2016, previously being named the player of the week back on March 14th.
