Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., held its spring commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 25. Congresswoman Cheri Bustos delivered the commencement speech, and more than 600 students participated in the ceremony.

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

A total of 766 students have been named to the Carthage College Dean's List for the Spring 2014 semester.

The following local students earned a position on the University of Evansville Dean's List for academic achievements during the Spring Semester 2014:

Some 2,904 students were awarded a variety of bachelor's degrees during the University of Vermont's 213th Commencement ceremonies on May 18. There were some 575 advanced degrees and certificates awarded by the UVM Graduate College and approximately 106 women and men took the oath of Hippocrates following the awarding of their M.D. degrees at ceremonies of the UVM College of Medicine. Drawing on classroom work and independent projects, this event showcased a selection of ongoing student work on the screen. Midway through the semester, these thought-provoking short films were at various stages of completion. Students and professors were on hand to discuss the work.

Miami University students who ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for first semester 2013-2014 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.

A total of 847 students have been named to the Carthage College Dean's List for the Fall 2013 semester.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

More than 3,000 students were named to the dean's list for the 2013 fall semester.

In a total team effort comprised of the 13 sports in the Missouri Valley Conference, the University of Evansville finished the 2012-13 academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.283 en route to its second MVC All-Academic Award in a row. Local student-athletes who helped UE win the award are:
